Matt Oyer is the type of person that you do not have to ask twice to get a task done. Matt consistently looks at all possible scenarios when resolving technical issues. He leaves not stone unturned, so to speak.

Matt is what you would call a hybrid in the IT world. Not only is he a top performer in the hands on hardware and software field but he can also program and created scripts on a moments notice.

Matt was able to reverse engineer a virus and create an executable using a C program to remove the virus from a computer. ”

I had the opportunity to work with Matt between May of 2007 and May of 2008 while supervisor of the Geek Squad Team at Best Buy. Matt was a somewhat quite part time employee when I first joined the team. After speaking with Matt several times I realized not only how much he knew about computers and computer software, but his ability to relay information to others in a simplified manner so they could understand. Matt informed me that with some adjustments we could easily make our business more efficient and profitable. I challenged him to create business plan that we could implement into our daily operations.

At the time I did not realize just how much that conversation would change the face of our operations. Matt not only implemented an operating model that improved our efficiency, but he acted as a catalyst for changing the attitude of our entire team of employees.

Matt not only brings a highly refined skill set to the table, but an attitude that any obstacle can be overcome. His ability to not only work with other team members, but to teach them while working together makes him an asset to any team. As far as customer relations are concerned, Matt had the ability to explain the situation and provide solutions for even the most disgruntled of customers. Despite only being a part time employee, Matt was able to create a tremendous positive impact on our business. ”

I've had the pleasure of knowing Matt Oyer for about two years. I met him on my first day of employment as a tech in Best Buy's Geek Squad. He was one of the techs that seemed to know a great deal about computers. I recall watching some of the things that he was able to do with a computer and thinking to myself "That is incredible". Matt seemed to be at the center of all of the good things that happened in our department. It was when I was promoted to manage our department that I started to really see all of the benefits Matt had to offer. I remember asking the manager that I was replacing "what caused our department to perform so much better than last year?" He explained to me several factors and then proceeded to tell me that Matt "was the axis that everything else rested on". What a great thing to say about someone!

Matt is the kind of person who starves for knowledge and improvement and will never be satisfied with the bare minimum. He strives to improve upon anything that he feels could be done better. Matt created a tool that cut repair turn time down over 60% and has now been implemented at all Geek Squad locations. He is always concerned with the efficiency of whatever tasks that are laid before him whether sales or service oriented. When I am in a bind, whatever it may be, I always turn to Matt for guidance. I know that I can rely on him to come up with some way to get what I need to get done and done right.

Aside from being an incredible tech, Matt is also a great friend. He is one of those guys that are easy to like and talk to. I remember that during my training Matt was always there to help with whatever questions I had. He also helps "integrate" people into the team. Always up for a movie or multiplayer game, Matt helped me and other new associates become apart of the team and lessen "The New Guy" feeling.

Matt is a very appreciated part of my team and I have been happy to have had him at my side for these past two years. He truly earned the respect of myself as well as the other members of his team through hard work and dedication as well as his ability to have fun while being the best. I know that Matt will succeed in whatever he chooses to do in life and will become a very valuable asset to whatever company is lucky enough to have him. ”

While having Matthew Oyer work for me from 2001 through 2006 at the Baederwood Theatre I noticed his great work ethic, his timely attendance and he ability to learn and work with anything and anyone in his surroundings. Matthew was working at the theatre before I took over but he was very easy to get along with and made it easy for me to become part of the team. From selling tickets to managing the theatre, Matthew never said no or I can't do that. Matthew's ability to learn quickly and easily complete any challenges thrown at him will make Matthew an asset to any company he may work at. Matthew also offered great customer service and his ability to think quickly also helped him to desolve any problems that may have arise while he was at work. All in all I would one day like the pleasure to have Matthew work with me in the future. ”
